Changelog

A dated record of real changes to how we source, rank, and publish gift recommendations, catalog updates, methodology revisions, and corrections. This list only carries changes we can point to; there is no entry for a day nothing meaningfully changed. See the editorial & corrections policy for how a specific page gets corrected.

  1. Corrections pathway published

Added this changelog and made the “report a data error” link on every review, guide, and comparison page open a pre-filled message naming the exact page, so a report always arrives with the context we need to check it.

  2. Removed thin category/recipient pages from search results

The individual gift-category and gift-for-recipient detail pages (e.g. /gifts/wellness/, /for/mom/) were set to noindex, follow and dropped from the sitemap. They still work for visitors, but we concentrate our search presence on reviews, guides, and comparisons, the page types with the most original analysis.

  3. Rating methodology updated: rating and review volume both count

Home, category, and review pages now rank products by rating alongside review volume (a dual-rank), instead of rating alone. Previously a 5.0 rating from a handful of reviews could outrank a 4.6 rating backed by thousands, which overstated confidence in thin samples.

  4. Per-page source citations added to reviews and guides

Every review and guide page now carries an explicit, page-specific citation of the catalog snapshot it draws from (previously this only appeared in the shared site footer).

  5. Catalog launched

Giftegy published its first curated gift-recommendation catalog, compiled from merchant listings and review-platform aggregates (CJ Affiliate, Impact.com, store ratings).
