Our Curation Process

Giftegy is a curated gift recommendation platform serving people who need thoughtful gift ideas across a wide range of recipients and occasions. Unlike algorithmic product feeds that surface whatever sells best or pays the highest affiliate commission, every gift on Giftegy is manually reviewed before being included. Our focus is on gifts that are actually used, digital subscriptions, experiences, creative tools, and quality physical items that recipients genuinely appreciate. Recommendations are curated by the Giftegy and cross-checked against current retailer pricing and customer reviews; see our methodology.

Our editorial process researches products across major retail platforms, reads verified customer reviews, and evaluates each item against our curation criteria before it appears on the site. Products that do not meet our standards are rejected regardless of affiliate commission potential.

We evaluate each gift against a set of criteria before featuring it:

Curation Criteria

1. Utility - Does this gift get used, not just opened? We prioritize subscriptions, courses, and experiences over decorative or novelty items.
2. Delivery reliability - Digital gifts must deliver instantly or within a guaranteed timeframe. Physical gifts must ship from reputable merchants with clear fulfillment processes.
3. Value - We consider price-to-value ratio across multiple price points, from budget-friendly to premium.
4. Recipient fit - Gifts are categorized by recipient type (for her, for him, for kids, etc.) and interest area to help givers find relevant options quickly.
5. Brand reputation - We avoid featuring brands with poor customer service records or known quality issues.

Affiliate Disclosure

Giftegy participates in affiliate programs including Commission Junction (CJ.com), Impact.com, and others. When you click a gift link and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate relationships do not influence which gifts are featured. We do not accept payment for featured placements or reviews. Our editorial process is the same for affiliate and non-affiliate products. Many products featured on Giftegy have no affiliate relationship at all, they are included purely on merit. When affiliate links are available, they allow us to sustain the platform without charging users or requiring subscriptions. The commission comes from the retailer and adds no cost to the buyer.

Pricing & Availability

Prices and availability shown on Giftegy are updated regularly but may not reflect real-time changes. Retail pricing is dynamic, merchants run sales, adjust prices seasonally, and discontinue products without notice. Always verify current price and availability on the merchant's website before purchasing. Giftegy is not responsible for pricing discrepancies or out-of-stock items.

Where available, we note the typical price range rather than a single price point. This approach gives a more realistic expectation, since the exact price at the time of your purchase may differ from when we last reviewed the listing.

Update Frequency

Gift listings are reviewed on a rolling basis. We prioritize reviewing high-traffic categories and seasonal picks ahead of major gift-giving occasions (holidays, graduation season, Valentine's Day). Products that are discontinued, consistently out of stock, or receive poor user feedback are removed. New products are added as we identify gifts that meet our curation criteria.

Inventory populations

Two catalog counts appear across Giftegy surfaces (GEO/llms, review hub, compare hub). They must stay coupled to the same extract:

• Reviews population - every /reviews/[product] page ships an entry on /reviews. Soft floors like "70+" are forbidden; the hub length is the national.
• Comparisons population - every /compare/[pair] page ships an entry on /compare. Soft floors like "45+" are forbidden; the hub length is the national.

Limitations

• Our catalog covers a curated selection, not every gift option in every category
• Prices, availability, and affiliate program terms change without notice
• Gift suitability is subjective, our categories are guides, not guarantees
• Affiliate commission structures vary by merchant and may change, but this does not affect which products we feature
• International availability varies, most listings reflect U.S. availability unless noted otherwise
• We cannot verify the ongoing quality of every product featured, our assessment reflects the product at the time of review based on publicly available information and verified customer feedback

Catalog statistics CSV

The same products.json extract that powers /statistics is published as a free CSV at /data/giftegy-catalog-statistics.csv (CC BY 4.0). Rows are one SKU each with primary category, hubbed-primary flag, instant-delivery flag, merchant-listed rating, and review count. Counts are catalog inventory, not a market census. When reusing the table, name Giftegy as the compiler.
